Salmon Burger

This is a very simple recipe that allows you to create your own twists in flavor. Add soy sauce, brown sugar and ginger for a teriyaki salmon, or some pimento and chili powder for a Caribbean style.

You need:

  • 1 tbsp extra olive oil
  • 1/4 finely minced onion
  • 1 1/2 lb fresh wild salmon
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 clove minced garlic

How to make this:

  1. Ask your butcher to skin the salmon for you or you can do it yourself, it’s very easy. Mince the salmon, like how you would mincemeat when making sausages
  2. Pour some olive oil and cook the minced onion over medium heat until they turn translucent
  3. Let the onion cool down a little and mix it into the minced onion, add a pinch of salt
  4. Mix in the garlic, mayonnaise, and breadcrumb into the salmon, wrap it and let it sit in the fridge for 30 min to an hour so the breadcrumbs can absorb the moisture
  5. Heat up a pan over medium-high heat with some oil, divide the salmon mix into 4 portions, press them to 1-inch thick patties and fry them for 3 min on both sides
  6. Serve it with anything you like, burger buns, rice or pasta, it’s a great easy dish you can improve base on the flavors you like
